Set within the lush, mature surroundings of Habersham Woods, one of Savannah’s most coveted neighborhoods, this ambitious renovation transforms a typical 1970s ranch into a contemporary retreat for its new California-based owners.

The single-level layout was subtly reworked to create four bedrooms, a more open living arrangement, and stronger connections to the outdoors. New windows, expanded door openings, and strategically placed skylights introduce abundant natural light, softening transitions and anchoring the home in its garden setting.

The exterior modernizes what was once a dated 70s ranch style home. The low-slung roofline and elongated horizontal form anchor the structure to its generous lot, emphasizing a sense of grounded simplicity. The facade is composed of painted white brick, offering a clean, timeless surface that contrasts beautifully with the charcoal-framed windows and warm natural wood accents.

A symmetrical composition draws the eye to the central entry sequence, which is framed by horizontal wood paneling and defined by a sleek, minimalist front door. A linear concrete walkway with dark metal edging reinforces the home’s sense of order and balance, guiding visitors through a restrained and thoughtfully planted landscape. To the rear, the once-underutilized backyard is transformed into a private oasis. Layered tropical planting, filtered light, and generous outdoor living areas extend the atmosphere of the interiors into the landscape, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor dialogue.

Inside, a refined material palette of warm wood, natural stone, and matte finishes lends a grounded elegance. At the center, the kitchen becomes a sculptural focal point with monolithic countertops, integrated appliances, and custom millwork that bring both presence and precision.
